July 22, 2008 - Wet Season

High Season Recap

What can we say but "WOW"! What an unbelievable season we just had. All of our guests had the time of their lives and the weather and surf could not have been better.

We all made some new lifelong friends and hope to see everybody back again next year along with some new faces.

New Toys

We recently added a few new toys in the house including a brand new Vermont Castings barbeque and a Nintendo WII along with a projector screen. In the dry season the projector is set up outdoors for some seriously competitive fun! And yes, you too can join Santa Teresa's first WII bowling league but unfortunately we don't have slick bowling shirts yet.

Landscaping

Now that the rains have started, our landscaping efforts have borne fruit (literally) with all of the palms, flowers and fruit trees in full bloom. We're going to keep it up and plant a few hundred more flowers and trees to keep the grounds as lush as possible.

Municipal Improvements

The road that spans between Mal Pais and Hermosa has had a lot of new work done and the drainage seems to be much better. We expect the road to be paved in the not too distant future although this might not be such a good thing as we will probably also see an increase in traffic and touristry over time. Not to worry, from our vantage point up in the hills there won't be any impact. The other big development is that there are now two new banks in town along with ATM machines. And finally, we expect high speed internet sometime in the not too distant future but as it stands nothing moves too quick in these parts.

Next Season

Now is a good time to book for the next high season and the choice spots are going quick. Contact us soon if you'd like to make a reservation.

January 12, 2008 - Busy Season

Unfortunately all of March and April are booked for 2008 but there are still weeks available in Jan/Feb. On a different note, several people have asked about the Forbes magazine article that declared Mal Pais/Santa Teresa one of the top ten most beautiful beaches in the world. You can find the link here.

One last thing, check out our new video mash up:

December 1, 2007 - Pool progress

Well our new 36ft infinity pool is nearly complete. At the last minute we threw in some bar stools, speakers and computerized lighting, We'll be filling it up this weekend if all goes well. Check it out:

September 4, 2007 - Close calls

While Costa Rica was lucky enough to escape hurricane Felix, there have been a few storms recently that have taken down a few trees. Luckily nobody was hurt and there was no major damage to the Villa. Construction and renovations are still on track.

August 31, 2007 - Pool progress

We have been very busy completing our new 36ft infinity pool. In this coastal region of Costa Rica, concrete trucks aren't available because of proximity and travel time so the workers have to pour concrete by hand. It took over a dozen workers a full 12 hours to pour the earthquake proof slab. The walls are up and lights, speakers and finishing is in progress. While it doesn't look like much yet, it's going to be gorgeous and HUGE! You could probably fit forty or fifty of your closest friends in this pool so as you see, it is quite a bit bigger than most local shared hotel pools! That whole cliff side straight edge will be the infinity edge, check it out:
